Abstract

This study attempted to shed light on small projects in Matrouh Governorate and their role in supporting sustainable development, reducing poverty, and improving the standard of living. To achieve this goal, a questionnaire was developed for this purpose. The study showed that animal production projects, especially poultry, accounted for the largest percentage of these projects, followed by olive presses and finally date factories.
The results of this study demonstrated the ability of small projects to provide either permanent or temporary job opportunities, as well as increasing family income and thus improving the standard of living, in addition to providing the products of these projects in their workplaces at prices that suit everyone. Regardless of the extent to which these projects know the environmental laws regulating their work, these projects have high efficiency in waste disposal.
The study recommended the need to attract all age groups to start establishing their own projects while providing alternative and innovative financing solutions. The study also recommended the need to provide the necessary training for these projects, as well as training women in some handicrafts.
